Thien Tan 1.4 – When Unity Defines NSN’s Strength
Explore NSN’s journey at the Thien Tan 1.4 Solar Power Plant – a story of teamwork, resilience, and commitment in renewable energy.
A Journey Through Challenges
In October 2020, NSN started construction of the Thien Tan 1.4 Solar Power Plant in the middle of Song Trau Lake, Ninh Thuan Province. Only one month later, nature put the team to a severe test. Heavy rain caused historic flooding, and the water level rose more than 6 meters, submerging the entire site. Equipment, solar panels, and mounting frames were underwater. Roads were blocked, and access to the project was cut off. Even in cold water and harsh conditions, NSN engineers and workers stayed on site, recovering equipment and repairing what they could to save the project.

While dealing with the flood damage, the team faced another challenge: the FIT II deadline on December 31, 2020. If the plant could not be connected to the grid by that date, it would lose the government’s feed-in tariff incentive, affecting the project’s financial performance. “It was truly a race against time,” shared Mr. Nam, NSN’s Deputy General Director. And just when things seemed under control, a new problem appeared. The 220kV Nha Trang - Thap Cham transmission line, built by EVN, was not ready. This meant the plant might be completed but unableto generate electricity on time. “During those difficult days, our unity, strong leadership, and decisive action helped us overcome every challenge,” said Mr. Nam. | ![]() |
The Spirit of NSN
Engineers Mr. Hoang, Mr. Thuy, and Mr. Hiep still remember that time clearly. Under the direct guidance of NSN’s management, the project team made quick and bold decisions. Dozens of technical plans were prepared to handle any situation. NSN also sent its most experienced workers to support the site.
Mr. Nam and the engineers worked, ate, and slept at the construction area, encouraging each other to “race against nature and time” to keep their promise to the Client – T&T Group.

Thanks to their teamwork and determination, Thien Tan 1.4 was completed on schedule, meeting all requirements and confirming NSN’s capability and reliability in renewable energy.
For NSN, this project is more than just a solar power plant. It is a symbol of who we are:
- United in adversity
 - Resilient in challenges
 - Committed through real action

From leaders to engineers, from project staff to on-site workers, everyone played a part in creating a lasting legacy of perseverance and commitment - the spirit that defines NSN.
