Experts Identify Energy Problems in Industrial Plants

The issue of electricity and energy has never been more important, urgent, and strategic than it is today. In recent days, the North and Central areas have entered the peak of a widespread heat wave. At the same time, the national power system recorded an all-time high peak load of 51,672 MW on June 2, 2025 - a figure that, rather than merely demonstrating economic growth, serves as a stark warning of the limits of Vietnam’s national grid under increasingly extreme climate conditions.

When Enterprises Face a Critical Crossroads

The rolling blackouts experienced in previous years, especially in the North, have severely impacted numerous manufacturing plants. Production lines were halted, delivery schedules collapsed, goods were spoiled, and operational costs surged uncontrollably.

Although some modern industrial parks have invested in backup power systems, the output capacity frequently falls short of ensuring stable and continuous operation across entire production chains. The question is no longer whether a backup system exists, but whether it is reliable and sustainable.

Long-term Thinking: Renewable Energy is not only optional

In the short term, businesses may consider increasing backup capacity or installing energy storage systems to reduce risks. However, such actions are only temporary remedies. The true solution is a long-term policy that prioritizes renewable energy.

Despite ongoing challenges such as inconsistent policies, complex permitting procedures, and investor hesitation, these challenges also reveal opportunities. According to EVN (Vietnam Electricity), renewable energy accounted for 16% of total power generation in Q1/2025. However, this figure does not reflect the full potential of Vietnam, a country blessed with a long coastline, abundant sunshine hours, and a unique opportunity to become a regional renewable energy hub. Under Power Development Plan VIII, the government aims to increase the share of renewables to 39.2% by 2030 and nearly 70% by 2050. From the standpoint of NSN—one of Vietnam’s leading general contractors in industrial construction and renewable energy—this is a golden opportunity for forward-thinking businesses to transform, stay ahead of the curve, and generate long-term value.

Not one to stay on the sidelines, NSN Construction & Engineering JSC has been actively investing in renewable energy solutions, particularly rooftop solar systems - a practical and intelligent solution for today’s factories and industrial zones. NSN’s deployment of EPC (Engineering-Procurement-Construction) and PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) models for FDI enterprises not only helps reduce energy costs but also strengthens a green brand image - a growing priority when global partners have a strong focus on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) compliance.

"Creating sustainable values" is more than just a slogan, it is the vision and commitment that drives NSN to accompany businesses and industrial zones in their energy transition journeys, enhancing operational efficiency, reducing costs, and enabling sustainable development.
