New association for investment consultancy in Vietnam debuts

A new association for studies and consultancy for business and investment activities in Vietnam officially made its debut on August 7, expecting to bring great benefits to businesses and contribute to law-making and enforcement.

The event, which attracted the participation of members of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the NA Committee on Science, Technology and Environment Phan Xuan Dung; Ha Ngoc Anh, Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilisation; Nguyen Thuy Hien, Deputy Chief Judge of the People’s Supreme Court; as well as representatives of ministries and agencies.

Ngoc Anh highly appreciated the establishment of the association, saying that with the gathering of highly-qualified and professional lawyers, consultants, legal analysts, and other stakeholders who have strong economic expertise, the association will be a bridge for sci-tech and investment co-operation, contributing to Vietnam’s increasing attractiveness.

At the first congress, the executive board including 17 members was voted, with Tran Son Vu being elected as chairman of the association, with Tran Tuan Hai and Bui Xuan Phai as deputy chairmen.

Being the first of its kind in Vietnam, the association will help investors to better access the most comprehensive and updated policies on business and investment and detect movements and possible trends among foreign inflows, as well as Vietnamese investment tendencies abroad. It will also work as a link between investors and government agencies to help them solve concerns over legal issues.

To this end, the association will focus operations on two priority activities – studying demands on investment policy consultancy among investors, businesses, and lawmakers; and assessing investment movements and sectors of the greatest interest in Vietnam, and those for Vietnamese investment abroad.

Other tasks include developing specific research proposals, conducting studies, and appraising study results and transferring them to the target subjects, as well as assessing trial performances in practice.

With an initial number of 100 members, the association aims to further increase the number in the next five years to serve unmet needs, thus enabling it to become the leading association in studies and consultancy of investment policies in the country.
